Job Description

FSN is seeking a compassionate Trauma Registrar to join our team. The Trauma Registrar is responsible for the accurate collection, abstraction, and management of trauma patient data for inclusion in the hospital’s trauma registry. This role supports performance improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and trauma program accreditation by ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and abstract all eligible trauma cases according to established criteria
  • Collect, analyze, and enter detailed patient data into the trauma registry database.
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness in accordance with trauma program standards.
  • Perform routine data validation, audits, and quality checks.
  • Generate reports for trauma program leadership, performance improvement committees, and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and hospital staff to obtain and clarify patient information.
  • Assist with trauma center verification, accreditation, and survey preparation
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in trauma program meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of trauma registry, clinical data abstraction, or healthcare experience required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and injury coding 
  • Familiarity with trauma registry software 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Shift & Schedule:

  • Day shift: 5x8 or 4x10
