Job Description

FSN is seeking an empathetic and skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team.  In this role, you will serve as an essential advocate for young patients, helping them and their families cope with the stress of hospitalization and medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and facilitate age-appropriate therapeutic and recreational play sessions to promote normal development and normalize the hospital environment.
  • Prepare pediatric patients for medical procedures, surgeries, and tests using medical play and age-appropriate explanations.
  • Teach coping techniques, such as deep breathing, guided imagery, and distraction, to minimize patient distress and anxiety.
  • Work closely with doctors, nurses, and social workers as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide family-centered care.
  • Offer education, sibling support, and emotional guidance to families throughout their healthcare journey.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Child Life, Psychology, Child Development, or a closely related field.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Child Life Specialist in a hospital setting
  • Completed a supervised Child Life internship as required by the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP).
  • Strong communication, compassion, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced medical environment.

  • Day shift: 5x8
