Position Details:

• Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Type: Full-Time, 1-year contract with potential extensions up to 4 years
• Location: Montrose and Castle Point VAMCs
• Schedule: Multiple shifts available, averaging approximately 173 hours/month (~40 hours/week)
• Shift 1: 7:30 AM 4:00 PM (3 positions)
• Shift 2: 3:30 PM 12:00 AM (2 positions)
• Shift 3: 7:30 AM 8:00 PM (3 positions)
• Shift 4: 7:30 PM 8:00 AM (2 positions)

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver compassionate and skilled nursing care within Intermediate/Medical Nursing Home and Psychiatric units
• Administer, document, and monitor medications via oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and IV routes with accuracy
• Observe, assess, and report patient responses and condition changes to RNs or physicians promptly
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across ambulatory care, critical care, nursing home, and Emergency Department units
• Operate independently with supervision from Nurse Managers, ensuring high standards of patient safety and care
• Complete all VA mandatory training, including Privacy & Information Security and Transient Staff Training, prior to start

Qualifications & Certifications:

• Valid, current LPN license in any U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory (must be in good standing with no restrictions)
• CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required)
• Graduate of an approved practical or vocational nursing program
• Proven competence in caring for adult psychiatric, medical, and geriatric patients
• Ability to prepare, administer, and document medications accurately
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)
