Registered Nurse - Critical Care / Endoscopy
Job Description
FSN is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our specialized procedural team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including those with complex and critical conditions. The ideal candidate is skilled in both critical care and procedural nursing, with a strong focus on patient safety, sedation management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedure nursing care for endoscopy patients
- Assess and monitor patients with complex medical conditions, including critical care cases
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures (e.g., EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, bronchoscopy)
- Administer and monitor moderate to deep sedation in accordance with hospital policies
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness
- Respond rapidly to complications or changes in patient condition
- Provide recovery care and discharge education following procedures
- Maintain strict infection control, sterilization, and safety protocols
- Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and documentation of endoscopic equipment
- Collaborate with providers, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care
Qualifications:
- Current and valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in acute care in a hospital setting or an acute care facility of similar size and level as a hospital
- Previous advanced endoscopy experience required, recovery room experience preferred.
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records preferred
- Strong clinical, assessment, and critical thinking skills.
Shift & Schedule:
- Day shifts
- On-call required for evenings/nights (16 hours per month) and one weekend per month
