Position Overview:
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive care to patients receiving autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplants. Your expertise will help manage complex treatment regimens, monitor engraftment, and address transplant-related complications, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a dynamic clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing stem cell transplants, including those receiving chemotherapy, biotherapy, and blood transfusions.
- Monitor and manage transplant-related complications such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), mucositis, infections, and other immunocompromised patient needs.
- Assess patient condition regularly, adjusting care plans as needed in collaboration with the multidisciplinary BMT team.
- Administer treatments safely and in accordance with institutional protocols.
- Educate patients and their families about post-transplant care, discharge planning, and long-term follow-up requirements.
- Document all patient interactions and clinical procedures accurately and comprehensively.
- Contribute to a supportive and healing environment, promoting patient comfort and safety.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in oncology or hematology; experience with stem cell or bone marrow transplantation highly preferred.
- Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) certification is a plus.
- Strong clinical knowledge of stem cell transplant procedures, immunosuppressive therapies, and infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Shift & Schedule:
- Night shifts: 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
