Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology

This role offers an opportunity to provide exceptional, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing treatment for hematologic disorders and cancer.

Position Overview:

In this vital role, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care within a fast-paced outpatient setting, collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, and the entire care team. Your expertise in oncology nursing, clinical assessment, patient education, and care coordination will help ensure each patient receives safe, effective, and compassionate treatment throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver primary nursing care to hematology and oncology patients in an outpatient environment.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, monitor treatment responses, and document patient conditions, symptoms, and needs.
  • Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, supportive therapies, and medications following established protocols.
  • Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, potential side effects, and supportive care options.
  • Provide triage support via telephone and electronic communication, addressing patient concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to maintain seamless treatment plans and follow-up.
  • Monitor for and manage treatment-related complications, implementing timely interventions.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures and other treatment-related activities.
  • Adhere to oncology nursing standards, infection control protocols, and patient safety practices.
  • Support clinical research protocols when applicable, ensuring compliance and accurate data collection.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting comparable to a hospital environment.
  • Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records is highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Shift & Schedule:

  • Day shifts, 5 days per week, 8 hours per shift.
