Job Description:
FSN is seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Medicine Physician to deliver comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare services to residents of a state-supported living center. As a vital member of an interdisciplinary team, the physician will focus on enhancing the health, well-being, and quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as those with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, experience managing multifaceted health conditions, and a commitment to person-centered care within a residential healthcare setting.
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Minimum of 2 months with an option to extend
Work Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8-hour days (flexibility available)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive medical services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for adult residents.
- Conduct routine physical examinations, health screenings, and preventive care interventions.
- Manage acute illnesses and chronic conditions, often involving complex and multi-system disorders.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff, specialists, therapists, behavioral health professionals, and other team members to coordinate holistic care.
- Review laboratory results, diagnostic, and imaging reports; develop appropriate treatment strategies.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and urgent health concerns.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and utilization reviews to ensure optimal care standards.
- Ensure all clinical documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained within the electronic health record system.
- Provide education and guidance to residents, families, guardians, and staff regarding medical conditions, treatment options, and health management.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
- Valid and unrestricted medical license in the state of employment or eligible for licensure.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-residency clinical experience in Family Medicine, Primary Care, Internal Medicine, or a related field.
- Current DEA registration and authority to prescribe medications.
- Strong knowledge of preventive care, chronic disease management, and evidence-based practices.
- Physical strength and stamina to assist with patient transfers, mobility, and lifting as needed.
