Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Shift:
- 4x12-hour nights
- Every other weekend
Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Essential Experience:
- EPIC charting experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver attentive, high-quality nursing care to intermediate-acuity patients, including those on cardiac telemetry, IV infusions, and oxygen therapy.
- Conduct continuous assessments of patient conditions, promptly recognizing signs of deterioration and initiating escalation protocols or rapid response measures to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, physical therapists, and case managers—to facilitate patient mobilization, discharge planning, and overall recovery.
- Administer medications, provide wound care, respiratory treatments, and document all interventions with accuracy and professionalism using EPIC.
- Maintain an appropriate patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 3–4 patients per nurse, ensuring personalized attention and comprehensive care.
- Uphold hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols to foster a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree.
- Minimum of 1 year of progressive care experience in a hospital setting.
- Valid and current RN license; a Compact license is preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certifications, maintained current.
- Local candidates not accepted. Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility.
- PCCN certification is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and excellent communication capabilities.
