Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Position Overview:
In this role, you'll care for a mixed acuity population—including MS Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Patients—ensuring safe, high-quality care. The unit offers an engaging environment where your clinical judgment and attention to detail will directly impact patient outcomes.
- Unit Type: Mixed acuity PCU, MS Tele, MS patients
- Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour shifts per week
- Local Candidates: Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver attentive, high-quality nursing care to intermediate-acuity patients, including those on cardiac telemetry, IV infusions, and oxygen therapy
- Conduct ongoing patient assessments, identify signs of deterioration promptly, and initiate escalation or rapid response protocols
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—physicians, therapists, case managers—to facilitate mobilization, discharge planning, and recovery
- Administer medications, perform wound care, respiratory treatments, and manage IV lines, central lines, PICC lines, and feeding tubes
- Monitor and titrate cardiac and insulin drips, manage blood products, and operate specialized equipment such as external CPAP, BIPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Maintain documentation with accuracy and professionalism in EPIC or equivalent EHR systems
- Adhere to hospital safety policies and infection control standards, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree
- Recent PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years required
- Valid RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- PCCN certification preferred
- Proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias, managing cardiac and non-cardiac drips, and performing clinical assessments
- Strong critical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team
Additional Skills & Preferred Certifications:
- PALS and TCAR certifications
- Experience with complex wound care, tracheostomy management, and trauma procedures
