Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood samples using venipuncture, vacuum tube methods, or finger/heel sticks, adhering to best practices and safety standards.
  • Prepare and label specimens accurately, ensuring proper storage and transport to the laboratory.
  • Understand and follow the specific requirements for various specimen collection tubes, including additive considerations (e.g., Gray top, Green top, Light blue top, Purple top).
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, including standard and transmission-based precautions.
  • Properly dispose of sharps and biohazardous materials following safety guidelines.
  • Ensure specimen integrity by handling samples appropriately, including centrifuging, aliquoting, and protecting samples from light or temperature extremes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data entry related to specimen collection and processing.
  • Assist in inventory management of supplies and laboratory requisitions.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations and patient concerns.
  • Collaborate with laboratory and medical staff to ensure timely and accurate results.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital, outpatient, or clinical setting.
  • Phlebotomist certification required
  • Strong understanding of blood collection procedures, techniques, and safety measures.
  • Excellent patient communication skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and safety protocols.
