Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Medical/Surgical Unit

Position Details:

  • Shift Hours & Contract Duration:

    • 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM alternating with 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM shifts
    • Contract length: 13 weeks, with the possibility of extension
  • Charting & Documentation:

    • Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Record system is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN, including assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and documenting care accurately
  • Manage and monitor diverse clinical procedures such as blood product administration, IV starts and maintenance, and peripheral/Central line care
  • Administer oxygen therapy using devices such as high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and oxygen tanks
  • Perform wound care, including wound vac management, and care of surgical drains and surgical sites
  • Assist with specialized treatments like trach care, feeding tube management, and heparin protocols
  • Monitor patients on telemetry, including post-operative orthopedic patients and those with complex long-term conditions such as pacemakers and trauma cases
  • Participate in emergency response activities, including rapid response and code team interventions
  • Maintain adherence to isolation precautions and infection control protocols

Unit Environment:

  • Work within a complex care unit managing medical, orthopedic overflow, and long-term care patients
  • Flexibility to float within the skill set across related units as needed

Qualifications:

  • Current and active LPN license
  • Recent (within the last 2 years) acute care experience
  • Proficiency in clinical skills listed above and experience with EPIC charting
  • Ability to take patient assignments independently with support from an RN
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
