Job Description

FSN is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at a state-operated psychiatric facility. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with serious mental health and behavioral needs.

Position Details:

  • Shift Availability:
    • 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
    • 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM
    • 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
      Shifts are scheduled on a rotating basis to meet staffing requirements.
    • Days: Sunday – Saturday (flexibility required)
    • Employment Term: 6-month contract (start date contingent upon completion of all pre-employment requirements)

Position Overview:

As an LVN at FSN, you will deliver direct nursing care to psychiatric patients within a structured environment that emphasizes safety, recovery, and patient dignity. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and collaborate with a comprehensive healthcare team to ensure each patient's needs are met with compassion and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care tailored to individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients.
  • Administer prescribed medications accurately and observe for therapeutic effects or adverse reactions.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, behavioral changes, mental status, and physical health conditions with attention to detail.
  • Assist with patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and ongoing assessments.
  • Respond swiftly to clinical changes and emergencies, ensuring patient safety at all times.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate documentation in electronic health records promptly.
  • Participate actively in treatment team meetings, contributing insights to care planning.
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols, including crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Support therapeutic activities, foster a recovery-oriented environment, and uphold patient dignity and rights.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare team members.

Qualifications:

  • Valid LVN license in the state of employment.
  • Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing program.
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric, behavioral health, correctional, or inpatient settings.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to monitor patient progress accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
