Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the PCU, providing specialized care to patients with complex medical needs. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, managing a diverse patient population with acuity that requires advanced nursing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as DKA, acute respiratory conditions (BiPAP, high flow oxygen, ventilators, trach care), ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, and other critical conditions.
  • Perform specialized procedures including phlebotomy and IV placement, which are mandatory competencies for all nurses at Unity.
  • Utilize equipment such as CADDS and PCA pumps accurately to support patient recovery.
  • Monitor, assess, and document patient progress, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and standards of practice.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a similar PCU or Med/Surg environment.
  • Current RN license in good standing.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required.
  • Proven competence in phlebotomy and IV placement.
  • Experience managing patients with diagnoses such as DKA, respiratory needs (including BiPAP, high flow, ventilators, trachs), ETOH withdrawal, and sepsis.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, critical care setting.
Shift:
  • Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM shift

Additional Details:

  • Float requirements: Yes, with flexibility to cover various shifts.
  • Weekend coverage: Every other weekend.
  • Location eligibility: Local candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility.
