Registered Nurse – Adolescent Psychiatry Unit
FSN is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our adolescent psychiatric care team. In this crucial role, you will provide expert nursing care to young patients facing complex mental health and behavioral challenges, fostering a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment that promotes recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to adolescent psychiatric inpatients, ensuring safety, dignity, and adherence to quality standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of physical health, behavioral status, and mental health to inform personalized treatment plans.
- Develop, implement, and continually evaluate individualized care strategies in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists.
- Administer and monitor psychiatric medications and other treatments, observing for effectiveness and any adverse reactions.
- Vigilantly monitor patients for changes in mental status, behavior, or physical health, intervening promptly as necessary.
- Perform suicide risk assessments and consistently implement strict patient safety protocols.
- Utilize therapeutic communication techniques to support patient engagement, cooperation, and recovery.
- Respond effectively to psychiatric crises or behavioral emergencies with professionalism and confidence.
- Collaborate closely with the healthcare team to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, medication management, and discharge instructions to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed documentation within electronic medical records.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, compliance audits, and ongoing staff training to enhance care delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Valid and current RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years' recent inpatient psychiatric nursing experience with adolescents and adults within a hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health interventions.
- Expertise in crisis intervention and patient de-escalation techniques.
Shift & Schedule:
- Day shifts available: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
