Histology Tech

We are actively seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histology Technician to become a vital part of our pathology team. In this role, you will be instrumental in preparing and processing tissue specimens to support accurate diagnoses and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare surgical, biopsy, and autopsy tissue specimens in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
• Perform tissue embedding, microtomy, frozen sections, and both routine and special staining procedures.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain histology laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Ensure the integrity of specimens through accurate labeling and thorough documentation throughout all testing phases.
• Conduct quality control procedures to maintain compliance with hospital, state, federal, and accreditation standards.
• Assist pathologists with tissue preparation and fulfill special procedural requests as needed.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents efficiently.
• Follow all safety, infection control, and hazardous material handling protocols.
• Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and initiatives aimed at continuous quality improvement.
• Collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory staff, physicians, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless workflow and high standards of accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Associate degree in Histotechnology, Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL).
• Minimum of 2 years of histology experience, preferably within a hospital or high-volume clinical laboratory environment.
• Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and H&E staining, along with familiarity with special stains.
• Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to quality.

Shift & Schedule:

• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (two 8-hour shifts).
