Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the sterilization, decontamination, and proper handling of surgical instruments, playing a vital part in patient safety and quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays using various sterilization methods including steam autoclave, hydrogen peroxide, and ethylene oxide processes.
  • Perform point-of-use cleaning verification, biological indicator testing, and maintain detailed documentation of sterilization loads in compliance with AAMI standards and The Joint Commission regulations.
  • Manage instrument inventory, track trays, and process loaner instruments in coordination with the Operating Room schedule and surgical services team.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, PPE guidelines, and OSHA standards across all decontamination and sterile processing work zones, ensuring safety for all team members and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with hospital policies.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or certification program in Sterile Processing, Central Service Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sterile processing experience in a hospital, surgical center, or similar healthcare setting.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification from IAHCSMM is required or candidate must be eligible to obtain it.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Certification as an Instrument Specialist (CIS) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of infection control and safety.

Shift & Schedule:

  • Day shift: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
