Histotechnologist (HT)
Job Description
FSN is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Laboratory Technician – Histotechnologist to join the Pathology team. The Histotechnologist plays a critical role in preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, supporting accurate diagnosis and patient care. This position requires strong technical expertise, adherence to quality standards, and a commitment to maintaining laboratory excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, embed, section, and stain tissue specimens for histological examination.
- Perform routine and special staining procedures, including immunohistochemistry (IHC) when applicable.
- Prepare microscopic slides with precision and attention to detail.
- Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment (microtomes, cryostats, tissue processors, etc.).
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation.
- Conduct quality control procedures and maintain compliance with laboratory standards.
- Assist pathologists by preparing high-quality slides for diagnosis.
- Maintain inventory of reagents and supplies; ensure proper storage conditions.
- Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines (CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
- Document all procedures and results accurately in laboratory information systems (LIS).
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Certification as HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP), or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Knowledge of histological techniques, tissue processing, and staining procedures.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Laboratory Technician - Histotechnologist in a hospital setting
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to follow protocols and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Shift & Schedule:
- Day Shift: 5x8 or 4x10
