Job Description

FSN is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Laboratory Technician – Phlebotomist to join our Clinical Laboratory team. This role is responsible for performing specimen collection, primarily blood draws, while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accuracy. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent patient interaction skills and adhere strictly to laboratory and safety protocols.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
  • Verify patient identity and label specimens accurately in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and ensure patient comfort and safety during collection.
  • Handle, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper documentation in laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards (OSHA, CLIA, CAP).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy work areas.
  • Monitor and restock supplies as needed.
  • Respond to stat and routine collection requests efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years working as a Laboratory Technician - Phlebotomist in a hospital setting 
  • Knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen handling procedures.

Shift & Schedule:

  • Day Shift: 5x8 or 4x10
