Job Description

FSN is seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Registered Nurse to join our Behavioral Health team. The Psychiatric RN provides direct nursing care to patients experiencing mental health and behavioral conditions, ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment while supporting recovery and stabilization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and ongoing patient evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans for psychiatric patients.
  • Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation for patients in distress.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, ensuring patient and staff safety.
  • Facilitate and participate in group therapy sessions and patient education.
  • Document patient behavior, progress, and care interventions in EHR systems.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor patients for signs of self-harm, withdrawal, or behavioral changes.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [State].
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program 
  • BLS certification.
  • Strong communication and patient care skills.
  • 2+ years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing in a hospital setting
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and behavioral health documentation.
